Slavoj, I am one of your readers.

I am always in agreement with you even if often, I would prefer not to be, I jump right over those pieces in Lacanian and Hegelian that you have the habit of trying to frequently stick in between one serious discussion point and another.

I would like to inform you that your “Syria is a pseudo-struggle” is truly useless for a specific reason: you start off from erroneous assumptions.

You write this false statement: “there are no clear political stakes, no signs of a broad emancipatory-democratic coalition, just a complex network of religious and ethnic alliances overdetermined by the influence of superpowers”.

For you to understand just how much you are in error, you are going to have to do a bit of reading.

I can give you the shortcut by advising you to read the following:

1. this “Non-violence Map in Syrian Uprising”, which you will find at this url http://www.alharak.org/nonviolence_map/en/

2. this “Empowering the Democratic Resistance in Syria”, which you will find here: http://www.arab-reform.net/empowering-democratic-resistance-syria

In both these works you will find those “signs of a broad emancipatory-democratic coalition”.

Fine, there is the proxy war, fair enough reasoning, but in the midst of the various interests of the different countries involved, between two fires, a Syrian civil society and a democratic resistance are already there.

Regards and please, next time be more careful: to fall in love with an argument carries some risks.

“there are no clear political stakes, no signs of a broad emancipatory-democratic coalition, just a complex network of religious and ethnic alliances overdetermined by the influence of superpowers”
