MoU for Halal Park inked

Karachi—Sindh Board of Investment and Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding MoU for promoting halal food industry and setting up Halal Park near Karachi. According to SBI here Friday, the MoU was signed by State Minister of Penang for Domestic, Consumer and Religious Affairs Haji Abdul Malik Qasim and Secretary SBI Yonus Dagha.Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Malik Qasim said that Malaysia was ready to assist brother country Pakistan in the promotion and development of halal food.CM Advisor on Investment Zubair Motiwala said that bright opportunities were existing for the promotion and development of halal food in Pakistan. He pointed out that global halal industry has grown to over a trillion dollars.Under the MoU, Penang International Halal Hub, the state organisation of Penang state of Malaysia will assist Sindh government in creating halal certification system, food research development centres, setting up halal park near Karachi and hold an international conference in collaboration with SBI by the end of this year.—APP
