Yemen, Italy talk over security cooperation
[22/September/2010]

SANA’A, Sep.22 (Saba)- Yemen and Italy discussed here on Wednesday aspects of security cooperation, especially in the field of coastguard and training.

In the meeting gathered Interior Minister Mutahar al-Masri and the official of cooperation at the Italian Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed the second phase of the radars system project for coastal monitoring, financed by the government of Italy.

The project will start from Shakra in Abyan province to Nashtoon in Mahrah province.

Al-Masri commended the support provided by the Italian government to Yemen’s security agencies, noting to the depth of historic relations between the two friendly countries.

For his part, the Italian official valued the efforts of the Yemeni Interior Ministry in providing the necessary facilities for the Italian company implementing the coastal watching project.

He voiced the readiness of Italian coastguard to train 100 Yemeni cadres of the coastguard police as a first phase, affirming his country’s support to unity, security and stability of Yemen (fonte)

  1. non si fa cenno ad alcuna iniziativa di tipo umanitario, di cooperazione allo sviluppo, culturale;

10-year plan for development of Yemen Coastguard Forces
[01/October/2010]

SANA’A, Oct. 01 (Saba) – A senior Yemeni military official said on Friday that the Yemeni Coastguard Forces would be able to implement a strategy of developing and enhancing its functions in order to protect regional and international water from smuggling and maritime piracy in the Gulf of Aden.

The Commander of the Yemeni Coastguard Forces Authority Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Rasa’a added that the strategy includes a ten-year plan aims at completing the infrastructure of the authority in the coastal areas of the country in order to control the security aspects in the Yemeni ports and save its coastal strip, including the fight against drug trafficking and piracy and the protection of the marine environment.

The senior Yemeni officials also said that the strategy received support from foreign donors and organizations.

“The strategy of the Coastguard Forces Authority received an international support during the recent meeting of the Friends of Yemen, which held in New York”, he said.

Rasa’a added that international donors have considered the ten-year plan for development of the Yemeni Coastguard Forces an excellent type of close cooperation between the Yemeni authorities and the donors (fonte).

Insomma: avete capito o no?
